Peeling Garlic Made Easy

Don't know how many people use actual garlic cloves (I'm a big fan of the powdered, myself), but if you do, this tip on how to peel the ticklish scamps in 10 seconds might come in handy:

  3. You may wish to reconsider the whole "powdered garlic" meme if you actually want food that tastes like garlic.

    As far as peeling, I cut the end off where it was attached to the bulb, tap the clove with the flat of my cleaver blade, and the skin falls right off. A good whack with the same blade flat and now they are crushed garlic. A couple quick chops and they are minced garlic. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

    And no disgusting powdered garbage need ever touch your food.

  4. I second the "powdered garlic sucks" opinion. Used to use it, then started using fresh and haven't gone back. Buying the jars of minced is ok too.
