I Wish You Could See This

I've never been on a pleasure cruise, but I have been on an aircraft carrier, and one of the things that I remember vividly that's hard to explain to people is that the ship's wake goes straight back to the horizon without fading. I'm not sure why.

In this case, you can see that the ship turned a mile back or so.

Very persistant thing.
